Flyer for Stockbridge Show 11th & 12th November 2017

The biggest show yet for the Hampshire and Berkshire Guild of Craftsmen.  This year with demonstrations in wood, ceramic, paper folding and much more.

There will be coffees, teas and even some cake!  See you there!

Summer Exhibitions – and looking forward to the Winter shows

It’s been a busy summer of exhibitions.

Whitchurch Silk Mill – the backdrop for this show was the beautiful river Test in the heart of Hampshire.  The Mill is due to be completely refurbished which will take 2 years.  The Guild took the opportunity to exhibit here and hope to again once the works are complete.

Petersfield Museum – we took this exhibition down a couple of days ago, again a great location, this time in the heart of Petersfield in Hampshire.  The Museum gave us a small room to set up and the Guild put on a beautiful exhibition. Exhibiting with craftsmen in a number of mediums incl. Stone, wood, metal, ceramic was a privilege.

Art in the Garden at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Romsey, Hampshire.
Having dropped my work off in June it is now almost time to collect it again in October.  My vessels have been out in the rock garden gathering water and attracting the birds as well as customers.  I have had a good number of orders which is pleasing.  The range of work on display and the beautiful setting makes it a very popular day out.

Vessels! at the Vessel Gallery London
This show was probably the most prestigious I have been part of and it was wonderful to meet so many fellow glass artists at the PV.  Organised by the CGS (Contemporary Glass Society) it gave relatively unknown artists the opportunity to show their work in London.  I am very much looking forward to the CGS Conference, the first of it’s kind, in the next couple of weeks.

Looking forward the Guild will be holding it’s annual show at Stockbridge, Hampshire.  Planning is well underway and we are hoping for a brilliant show.  This year we will be taking over both floors of the Town Hall.  Most of the members of Guild will be taking part and I think there will be plenty of opportunities for some Christmas present purchases!

Whitchurch Silk Mill with Hampshire Berkshire Guild of Craftsmen

Spent the day setting up our exhibition at the silk mill this week. A beautiful spot on the River Test, one of Hampshire’s most scenic rivers.  Good range of disciplines on display from the Guild: Ceramics, weaving, wood, jewellery, woodcuts, metalwork and, of course, my glass; so well worth a visit!

Open 10:30 -17:00 Tuesday to Sunday until 30th July 2017.

VESSELS! at Vessel Gallery, London

Just confirmed: 132 members of the Contemporary Glass Society, including myself, will be taking part in this exciting show at the prestigious Vessel Gallery in the heart of London’s Notting Hill.
Dates for the diary: 6th July – 19th August 2017.

…and here is my piece, hot out of the kiln!

Coastal Vessel  2017

Evoking the layers visible on the cliffs on the seashore.
Sand made up of ground down stone, shells and the detritus accumulated and deposited in layers over many lifetimes.  My vessels of glass elevate this sometimes overlooked beauty into a precious object.

Coastlines Exhibition at Rum’s Eg

My work has been included in the new Coastlines Exhibition at Rum’s Eg.  Some familiar faces are also exhibiting:  Beautiful glass by Julia Webster and delightful ceramics by Elaine Bolt amongst many others.  I saw the show being set up on Monday and there is plenty of choice both in terms of medium and styles.    I have added a few pieces to include some of my earlier bowls ‘inspired by sand’.

The show runs until 7th January, so plenty of opportunity to see it!
